Immediate availability for therapy provided in-person (in Chapel Hill) or via telehealth (in most U.S. states)
At CPE, our doctoral level psychologists, Dr. Jake Godfrey and Dr. Chris Weintrob, provide a wide range of psychotherapy services both in-person in our Chapel Hill, NC office, and via telehealth through secure telehealth sessions in 42+ PSYPACT States. As a therapist, Dr. Godfrey has particular interest in helping clients of all ages (3 and up) better address anxiety coping concerns, including those related to generalized anxiety, panic disorder, specific phobias, social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, school refusal, and in the context of performance situations (e.g., academic testing, athletic competition, and public speaking), using cognitive-behavioral treatments. He also frequently works with preschool to middle school age children and their parents to address concerns regarding various broader emotion coping concerns, impulse control problems, and disruptive behavior, with teenagers and adults to address concerns regarding self-image, decision-making/judgment, engagement in risk taking behaviors, stress coping, self-care, adjustment to various life transitions, and challenges with becoming more independent, and with students of all ages to address concerns regarding learning and academic performance. As a therapist, Dr. Weintrob sees individual clients beginning at age 11 through adulthood to treat a variety of psychological symptoms and behaviors with particular focus on anxiety, relationship difficulties, and problems related to existential questions and life transitions, often using an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) framework. He treats interpersonal and dynamic issues using structural family therapy and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, and he frequently works directly with parents to help their children using parenting therapy. Dr. Weintrob works with students from middle school through graduate school to address concerns regarding learning and academic performance, focusing on managing executive functioning challenges, attentional concerns, learning difficulties, and treating symptoms that occur at the intersection of emotions and academics. Finally, Dr. Weintrob frequently works with young adults who have difficulty living independently from their parents and transitioning to adulthood, helping them develop activities of daily living and social connectedness. Both Dr. Godfrey and Dr. Weintrob are currently accepting referrals for psychotherapy. Additional information regarding our psychologists can be found on our Who We Are page.
