Our Practice
The Center for Psychology and Education (CPE) is an organization committed to the practice and integration of psychology and education, and their intersection with related specialties. The main mission of the practice is to enhance the psychological, educational, and occupational adjustment of the children, adolescents, families, and adults with whom it works.
The clinicians at CPE draw on a variety of sub-disciplines in working with their clients. The most influential of these include: clinical psychology, developmental psychology, developmental neuropsychology, educational psychology, psychiatry, and special education.
Evaluation and assessment services are emphasized strongly at CPE as we believe that an accurate understanding of a client's cognitive, academic, emotional, social, and behavioral functioning is needed in order to intervene effectively and efficiently. Interventions may take many forms including prevention, enhancement, and problem-focused activities, all with an eye towards maximizing collaboration between involved parties.
Another central belief of the professionals at CPE is that individuals, and particularly children and adolescents, are often best assisted by the people most familiar to them, and in the settings where they spend the most time. Hence, consultation with parents and teachers, as well as with other health professionals, is often an extremely important part of any intervention plan.
